June 16th is 5% Day to Benefit ‘Friends of the Market’!! Mark your calendar and stock up!
On Wednesday, June 16th five percent of all sales at the Whole Foods Market in Redmond will be donated to support our ‘Friends of the Market’ project. ‘Friends of the Market’ supports our many community events and activities at the market such as Music on the Grass, Chalk Art by Joe Lee, contests, chef’s demo’s and much more through volunteerism, fundraising and sponsorships.
Jamie Rose Edwards is helping to organize our Friends of the Market this year, and is leading this special event. We are firming up the details but we know that the day will be full of fun events, with free bagels and coffee in the morning, raffle giveaways, chalk art with our own Joe Lee Davidson, lunch time music by our favorite Budget Funeral Band; afternoon coffee with our friends the Roving Fiddlers and a Wine Pairing (local wines with local cheese) to the accompaniment of the Bella Musika Trio.
We encourage you to create a shopping list for this day, and flush out your ‘market basket’ with environmentally friendly cleaning products and personal care items, an amazing selection of wines, cheese, olives, sausage and seafood; and a wide array of special dietary foods such as gluten free pasta’s and flour; as well as bulk foods of all kinds, and much more! Enjoy their amazing salad and food bars for ‘healthy food to go’. In the weeks before our 5% day we will be using many of their ‘365’ brand of organic foods in our Stone Soup Kitchen such as beans and pasta.
Farmers and members of the Sno-Valley Tilth will be on hand during this event. The evening Wine Pairing is a ‘must-do’ social event, and all proceeds from the $10 fee will go towards our market.
