The young lady responsible for the brightly colored faces at the Carnation Farmers Market is LuLu Redder of LuLu’s Face Painting. LuLu picked up her artistic skills as a kid, when her mom would paint LuLu’s face. But it was only in 2011 that LuLu started painting faces. At the Carnation Farmers Market, the profits from LuLu’s Face Painting go to support the market—a great reason to get a bit of body art on Tuesdays.
LuLu uses only FDA approved nontoxic, water-based paints made specifically for faces. The most popular designs that LuLu is asked to paint include her trademark purple butterfly and her Bengal tiger. LuLu also does custom designs, giving life to your imagination. LuLu’s favorite part of face painting is the look on kids’ faces when they look into the mirror for the first time after their design is finished.
LuLu enjoys the true small town, rural, country setting of the Carnation Farmers Market where the people are down to earth. LuLu thinks of the farmers market community as a family, where people talk to one another and care for each other. At the Carnation Farmers Market, LuLu often brings member of her family: her pets, including her quail, bunnies, and her fluffy chickens named Pickle and Toes. And what does LuLu want people at the Carnation Farmers Market to know about her? Her response was a lively “I do birthday parties!”
