Community Service at the Market
Community service opportunities specifically for high school students who need to complete volunteer hours. We need help setting up and taking down every market day. Carnation Farmers Market operates from 3-7pm each Tuesday in June, July, and August at King County’s Tolt-MacDonald Park. Sign up solo or bring your friends!

The Shifts - Pick one or do both
Each market day has two volunteer windows. You can commit to whichever fits your schedule!
Set Up
1:00 – 3:00 pm – 2 hours per day
- Unload and carry tables, canopies, and signage
- Lay out booth spaces according to the market map
- Unload and set up umbrellas
- Carry weights for umbrellas and canopies (up to 25 lbs each)
- Set up the hand washing sink
- Final walkthrough before the market opens at 3pm
Take Down
7:00 – 8:00 pm – 1 hour per day
- Help staff break down and carry out equipment
- Fold and stack tables, canopies, and signage
- Sweep and clear the entire market footprint
- Load all equipment back into storage, including weights (up to 25 lbs each)
- Final walkthrough before we leave for the night
Your hours for the full 13-week season
Set up = 26 hrs (2 hrs × 13 weeks)
Take down = 13 hrs (1 hr × 13 weeks)
Both shifts = 39 hrs (3 hrs × 13 weeks)
Bring your friends – When you sign up, you can add up to 4 friends to your group. You’ll all be scheduled together for the same shifts, so you can show up, work, and head out as a crew.
