The Knutson family runs Loki Fish Company. In 1979, Pete Knutson decided enough was enough. Having worked as a fisherman to pay for college, Pete had seen the poor quality and way that conventional fisheries treated their catch. Wanting to do something better and take care to ensure the quality of the product, Pete and his wife Hing Lau Ng started Loki Fish Company. Today the couple’s two sons have joined them: elder Jonah fishes on Pete’s first boat, Loki, and youngest Dylan manages marketing and distribution for the business.
Loki Fish Company brings many offerings to our market: canned, fresh, frozen, smoked, and pickled salmon are among the mix of products you’ll find. You’ll also be able to spot salmon roe, called ikura. All of Loki Fish Company’s salmon is wild, sustainably harvested with integrity, and handled carefully when it’s butchered and cleaned in-house. This allows for a more flavorful product with a higher quality than you’d find at a grocery store, and their sockeye, their most popular variety, will blow your mind. Whatever you pick up at Loki Fish Company’s booth will be delicious and nutritious—salmon is a great source of protein.
You’ll find Loki Fish Company at the Carnation Farmers Market at least once a month, but you’ll want to keep an eye on the market’s newsletter for updates about Loki’s attendance. The Carnation Farmers Market is the farthest market that Loki Fish Company sells at. They come all this way as they value the connections they have made with their Valley patrons and enjoy the close-knit community out here that supports them.
