About Carnation Farmers Market
Nourishing the community since 2004
Independently operated since 2020
In the heart of the fertile Snoqualmie Valley, Carnation Farmers Market (CFM) is an important communty hub that connects local eaters with local farmers, and also serves an enriching menu of homegrown music, fun and educational activities, and other cultural & community programming.
In 2020 and 2021, volunteers re-established Carnation Farmers Market as an independent 501(c)(3) charitable and educational nonprofit, after more than a decade of Sno-Valley Tilth leadership.
CFM is a community tradition because of dedicated shoppers like you who show up every week to support local farmers, as well as volunteers, grants, donations, and partnerships with local sponsors. Everyone has a part to play in the market's success, and with your help, CFM will continue to thrive for another twenty years and beyond. Get involved with the community, have fun, and make friends by joining us - there are many easy and meaningful things you can do to help.
Board of Directors & Staff
Lindsay Gilliam
Founder and Executive Director
Lindsay joined Carnation Farmers Market (CFM) after moving to the Snoqualmie Valley in 2013. With experience as a market vendor, roadside produce seller, and community organizer, she became CFM's Market Manager under Sno-Valley Tilth, leading it through four successful seasons. Passionate about food access and community building, she established food access programs at CFM, expanded enrichment activities, and began bringing more artists and musicial acts.
After having two kids, Lindsay transitioned to being a shopper, volunteer, and herbalist, but returned to revive the Market following its closure in late 2019. As Executive Director and founder of the new independent CFM organization, she has overseen CFM through a period of remarkable change and unprecedented growth. Lindsay also manages the annual King County CHOMP! Farmers Market, and has worked with the Washington State Farmers Market Association to advance farmers markets in King County and statewide. Lindsay lives on the Tolt River with her husband, two children, and three barn cats.
🏅 Lindsay was voted "Best Community Volunteer" in the 2022 Snoqualmie Valley Record "Best of the Valley" readers' poll.
Robert Gilliam
Founder and President
"Growing up in Kentucky, I loved fresh farmers market tomatoes. When I moved to Carnation a decade ago, the farmers market is where I found fresh food, local music, art, nature, and new friends.
"In 2020, when COVID hit, I was determined to keep the Market open for my kids. With phenomenal community support and dedicated volunteers, we've had five great seasons as an independent nonprofit, steadily growing the Market and increasing our positive impact on the community through food access initiatives, enrichment programming, and other public benefit offerings."
🏅In 2023, Rob was presented with the Empower Youth Network Rise & Shine Award for Exceptional Community Volunteerism.
Becky Reimer
Founder and Vice-President
"My husband and I moved to Carnation in 2004 to start farming on our 10 acres. Luckily for me, it coincided with the first year of the Carnation Farmers Market. Selling at the farmers market was the way I got to know my neighbors and fellow townspeople. I loved market day! 18 years later, between being a vendor, shopper, volunteer, and supporter, I still love market day! I may not be a vendor anymore, but I still feel the excitement each Tuesday as I help set up the market with other volunteers. I feel passionately about supporting local farming in our valley and state and providing a vibrant community-led market for farmers to support their families."
Rosy Smit
Founder and Secretary
Rosy has been a steering committee member and community advocate of the Carnation Farmers Market since 2013. At the farmers market, she enjoys ice cream and berries from local vendors, listening to the musicians and helping clean up after market days. Passionate about soil health, food system education, and seed-saving, Rosy likes growing sugar snap peas and beets and has been known to nurse sick chickens back to health. A proponent of local food systems, she is a 7th generation farmer, raised on a dairy farm and is a dirt nerd with a Master's Degree in Soil Science.
Raleigh Wilson
Founder and Treasurer
"I've lived in Carnation since 2001 and watched the Carnation Farmer's Market 'grow up' alongside my own children. We love the food, the community feeling, and the music. I want my grandchildren and the generations that come, to enjoy the same things. I tend to be at the Power of Produce table greeting kids and families, but I also enjoy helping set-up and break down. I'm honored to be serving with such a wonderful and fun group of board members and volunteers. I've worked professionally for the most part in education, finance, and administration. You can also catch me performing at the market with a guitar and vocals as Deacon Raleigh St James."
Angela Oliver
Founder and Director-At-Large
Angela Oliver is a wife and also a mother to Ava at Tolt Middle School and Dylan at Carnation Elementary and works as an Executive Administrative Assistant for T-Mobile. As a Carnation resident for twenty years, and has always lived in Washington, she loves this community and serving it through the Carnation Farmers Market. A lover of hiking, cooking and reading although she can't tell you where the last book she was reading is, as she's been chasing kids activities.
Brodie Nelson
Director-At-Large
"Hello, my name is Brodie Nelson, my family and I live in Carnation and I grew up in the Snoqualmie Valley over in North Bend. We have lived here in Carnation for about 12 years and our family includes my spouse Kristin, 3 daughters, chickens, dogs, cats and honeybees. In my spare time I enjoy boating, spending time outside and going on sunny vacations! I joined the farmers market because my children consistently ADORE spending time at the market (since their birth). I love the atmosphere of the market and the sense of community. In a time where screens, speed and isolation rule, its nice to experience a change where things slow down and allow us to connect on a personal level. My biggest eye opener since coming onto the Farmers Market board was the real and true needs we have from our community members. Whether it is donation of time (volunteering) or a monetary support, it’s clear to me that the Carnation Farmers market needs all of our help. I am happy to be one of the newer additions to the market and very excited for its future. Thank you all!"
Sara Hughes
Enrichment Programming Coordinator
Sara Hughes joined CFM as the Enrichment Programming Coordinator last Summer. Sara has lived in Carnation for 3 years, with her husband and treasured kitty, Xena. She works full time as a Senior Marketing Operations Manager in the tech industry and although isn’t from the PNW originally, loves Carnation and the Sno-Valley community! On market days, you can find Sara at the PoP Club booth, working with our incredible Musicians, Non-Profits, and volunteers!
Joe Lee Davidson
Resident Artist & Mentor
Joe Lee is the creative force behind the visual identity of Carnation Farmers Market, capturing its history through colorful artworks and seasonal posters. During CFM's inaugural season twenty years ago, he began creating chalk art on the sidewalk every week and invited others to join, delighting market-goers and inspiring a long-standing tradition of participatory art at CFM. Over the years, he has brought people together through art, and has helped countless local young people experiment with new techniques and discover the value of creative expression. Joe Lee is experienced in a wide variety of media, including painting, drawing, paper making, woodblock printing, and sculpture. He can be found at the market every Tuesday, presenting interactive projects and art lessons.
Remembering Lindsey Robinson
Founding Board Member
Lindsey Nicole Robinson, who passed away in December 2023 from cancer, was a close friend and an advocate for food access in the Snoqualmie Valley. For several years, she collected surplus produce at CFM to be distributed to neighbors in need, and was later selected to lead the Food Program at Hopelink, managing 5 food banks and serving over 14,000 local households. As a strong believer in local food systems and food justice, she was one of the leaders of the movement to bring back Carnation Farmers Market in 2020 after it had closed, volunteering at the market despite the pandemic, and signing the Articles of Incoporation in 2021 as a founding board member. Lindsey left an everlasting impression on CFM with her kindness, empathy, and tenacity, and her influence inspires us to keep working hard to nourish the community.
